Youthful Mukaragi ready to unseat Kajwengye in Nyabushozi

Mugabi Mukaragi, a highly educated youth, has told Bbeg Media that he is ready to challenge the incumbent, Dr. Wilson Kajwengye, for the position of MP in the 2026 elections.

Mukaragi boasts a robust academic background, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Makerere University and an MBA in Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy Management from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.

He has worked with prestigious organizations such as the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), among others.

After picking nomination forms at the NRM offices in Kampala on Saturday, Mukaragi said he had started the journey of “rescuing” the people of Nyabushozi from under development.

“We have come here together with my supporters and friends to express my interest in saving my area from neglect and limited service delivery,” Mukaragi stated.

He outlined his ambitious agenda for Nyabushozi, including: Establishing a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institute, with a focus on Rwenshande; Launching a 150-acre pilot phase to boost coffee production; Enhancing network and critical infrastructure; Improving roads, with a focus on the Kibega to Nyakarara route and expanding access to piped water and constructing valley dams.

Others who expressed interest in parliamentary seats yesterday include Olaboro Emmy Ejuku for Orungo County in Amuria District. Ejuku acknowledged the contributions of the incumbent, Gen Jeje Odongo, stating that while Odongo has done his best, it is time for him to retire and for Ejuku to take over.

However, unlike previous days, the NRM Electoral Commission yesterday closed its doors to aspiring candidates at noon, drawing complaints from some who arrived late.

“We are being denied access to the process, and we have tried to call Dr. Tanga Odoi, but unfortunately, he can’t answer our calls,” one aspiring candidate lamented.

Vendors selling party branded items such as T-shirts, caps, and other regalia also expressed frustration, noting the day was not favorable for business. They explained that on a busy day, they can earn up to Shs 2,000,000, with each shirt and cape sold at Shs 50,000. However, yesterday, they frankly admitted to a loss, earning only Shs 700,000.
