Vision Group is demanding the World Bank Shs 2.7 million in unpaid advertisements and promotions across its platforms, we can reveal.
According to the list of Vision Group debtors seen by Bbeg Media, the World Bank, a multilateral lender, is one of several reputable international organisations that have not cleared their dues.
UNICEF owes Shs 33 million, Save the Children (Shs 30 million), United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Shs 14 million,
However, Vision Group’s biggest debtor is the National Planning Authority (NPA), which owes the media group Shs 557 million. The ministry of Health owes the group Shs 251 million, while State House is being demanded Shs 150 million.
In total, several organisations owe the group a total of Shs 7.2 billion, mainly in unpaid advertisements. Some of the debts, according to sources, go back more than 20 years, and some organisations on the debtors list have since collapsed or gone out of business.
The list of debtors is dominated by government ministries, agencies, departments, and local governments. It also has prominent schools, civil society organisations, banks, religious and cultural institutions, as well as media organisations.
For instance, the group demands Shs 41 million from Capital Radio Limited, the company that owns Capital FM Uganda.
However, some of the sums are laughable. For instance, UBC owes Vision Group Shs 156,000. Lira District owes Shs 162,000, while Budaka District is yet to pay Shs 100,000. Statewide Insurance Company (SWICO) owes Vision Group Shs 158,000.
Sources in Vision Group told Bbeg Media that the organisation has doubled its efforts in recovering this money as it looks to find financial stability in these economically turbulent times.
This month, Vision Group reported that it had made a net profit of Shs220.8 million for the six months ending December 2025, a welcome relief.
