In a new twist, Charles Mwanguhya will resume his duties as host of The Frontline on NBS TV, after management considered that his circumstances were unique from those of other employees who have expressed interest in joining local politics in 2026.
We reported last week that Mwanguhya had been taken off air after it emerged that he planned to contest for the Burahya parliamentary seat in Kabarole in 2026.

Similar action had been taken against Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa and Victoria Bugaaya, two employees who have publicly announced that they will contest in 2026.
However, sources at Naguru have now told us that after a meeting last week, Mwanguhya was informed that he would host The Frontline at least until the end of April.
He is set to resume his duties on March 13 (tomorrow).
Sources said that management considered several issues when making the decision.
The first is the fact that Mwanguhya is only paid per show and therefore he is not a permanent staff, unlike Zambaali or Bagaaya. So his terms of employment are different and certain company policies may not directly affect him.
The second issue is that Mwanguhya had not publicly expressed his political ambition although he had informed management about his political ambitions.
We have also been told that management is still struggling to find Mwanguhya’s effective replacement. Last week Simon Kaggwa Njala sat in for him but the veteran talk show host is not viewed as his long-term replacement, according to sources at Naguru.
Last Thursday, Mwanguhya was told, while at the barber’s, that he would not host The Frontline for that day. He did not take kindly to the decision and complained to top management.
Desire Derekford Mugumisa, the Corporate Affairs Manager at Next Media told us that Mwanguhya had not been suspended in the first place as we had reported.
“Charles [Mwanguhya] was never asked to stop presenting his shows in the first place, so there is no rescinding there, he was just not available last week. There is no reason currently to have him go off air anyways,” he said.
The suspensions of Zambaali and Bagaaya still stand, we have been told and their fate is still unknown.
