Dalton Kaweesa, who was sacked as chief news manager of Next Media in January, is back at the Naguru-based station, but in a smaller capacity.
Impeccable sources informed us that Kaweesa is now the Head of Current Affairs, a role that places him three positions lower than his previous one.
He was sacked after it emerged that he had engaged in unethical behaviour whose details we are not at liberty to reveal.
During an editorial staff retreat at Fairway Hotel in February, Kin Kariisa, the CEO of Next Media, confided in some people that “Kaweesa had crossed the line.”
After two months in the cold, sources have told us that Kaweesa and his ‘friends’ in government started lobbying Kariisa to rescind the decision.

Late last month, Kariisa gave in on condition that Kaweesa would come back in a smaller role.
A much quieter Kaweesa, sources said, started work last week. In his role, he oversees all the current affairs content, such as talk shows. It is a role he occupied before he was promoted to news manager in late 2020.
