Kazibwe Bashir will be paid Shs 200,000 per show on Beat FM, where he will be hosting a talk show, Alipoota Olutagajjjo, every Sunday from 12 pm to 2 pm; three people knowledgeable about the arrangement have told Bbeg Media.
That would amount to Shs 800,000 per month.
We have been told that Kazibwe, who until recently was the Kawempe South MP, did not seek to negotiate a higher pay and only told management to get him some ‘small fuel’.
“He is not working for a salary because he is well-off. He just enjoys giving information and the thrill of being in the media,” said one of the people who requested anonymity.
The move has already generated mixed reactions from the public, with some questioning why a former MP had decided to take a “lowly job.”
Yet others welcomed the move, saying they are waiting to partake of Kazibwe’s knowledge of local and global political affairs.
Kazibwe hosted a similar show on Bukedde FM before he left to join politics, where he burnt his fingers. He opted not to stand in 2026 after voters in his constituency made it clear that they would not vote for him.

At his unveiling, Kazibwe said that the show will interrogate the nature of politics and other global news, giving them a fresh and deeper perspective.
We have also been informed that Kazibwe, who runs Nyce TV, was convinced to take up the role by Kin Kariisa, the CEO of Next Media, who recently bought the Capital FM Group interests in Uganda, including Beat FM.
Kazibwe worked for Kariisa at NBS TV, where he used to host One on One with Tamale Mirundi and Ensi N’ebyayo with the late Dr Anas Kaliisa.
Our efforts to talk to Kazibwe were futile, as his phone went unanswered.
