NBS TV has suspended MPs: Betty Nambooze and Daudi Kabanda from appearing on the Barometer talk-show for different reasons, impeccable sources have told Bbeg Media.
Insider sources at Naguru told Bbeg Media that Nambooze, the Mukono Municipality MP, had been stopped for criticising NBS TV on some social media platforms following the suspension of Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa, a former moderator of Barometer.
“Nambooze called NBS hypocritical for suspending Zambaali and not touching Victoria Bagaaya, yet both employees had been stopped,” said our sources.
Nambooze, a founder panelist on the show, is also accused of attacking the station on some social media platforms, after she was told that she would not be needed on the March 11 show.
The show held on the eve of the Kawempe North elections featured Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja. Other panelists were: Yusuf Nsibambi, the Mawokota South MP; Ronald Balimwezo, the MP for Nakawa East and Kabanda.
It is unclear why the station told Nambooze to stay away from this particular show, but our sources suspected that it could have been at the request of Nabbanja.
Other sources claimed the show had been paid for by the NRM, claims we could not verify.
On the other hand, we have been told that Kabanda, the Kasambya County MP, was suspended for “praising security forces” for tormenting journalists during the Kawempe North by-elections.
“Kababakube,” Kabanda posted on his X handle, meaning “let them [security forces] beat you”.
Since some NBS journalists had been victims of security’s brutality, management decided to suspend Kabanda for his insensitivity.
We have been told that Nambooze’s slot on the show has, in the interim, been given to Goretti Namugga, the Mawogola South MP.
Sources have told us the decision to suspend the duo was taken by Kin Kariisa, Next Media’s CEO.
Following her suspension, sources have told us that Nambooze has repeatedly pleaded with Kariisa to have her back on the show but to no avail.
“They will come back to the show but we don’t know when,” one of our insider sources said.
