The display of the national voters’ register and the Register for Special Interest Groups (Youths, PWDs and Older Persons) at 620 polling stations has commenced today. The display had been delayed by some technical glitches.
Julius Mucunguzi, the Electoral Commission spokesperson, said the exercise, which enables voters to confirm their eligibility to participate in the 2026 elections, will run for 21 days.
“The display exercise allows voters to confirm their actual names and photographs, report those they consider to be underage, the deceased who still appear on the list, but also flag cases of multiple registration,” Mucunguzi stated.
“We wish to mention that the Electoral Commission staff are at each of the 38315 polling stations spread across the country everyday from 8am to 6pm including weekends and during public holidays. We call upon Ugandans and the public at large, to take this voter display as an important exercise.”
He said complaints from this exercise will be reported to the tribunals to ensure a clean Voters Register.
The Electoral Commission is urging all members of the public who registered as voters to visit the polling stations and scrutinize the displayed voter’s registers to ensure the integrity of Uganda’s electoral process come 2026.
