2026 elections will be peaceful, assures EC spokesperson

The spokesperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Julius Mucunguzi, has assured Ugandans of a peaceful election in 2026.

Mucunguzi revealed this during the marking of the ecumenical public way of the cross at Old Kampala Secondary School playgrounds.

He said the commission was doing everything possible to make 2026 a better election year.

“We want to thank the Uganda Joint Christian Council for partnering with us as we ask Ugandans to participate in the display of the voters’ register and other electoral activities that aim at making 2026 a peaceful election.”

He called upon Ugandans to support their activities of ensuring a peaceful and transparent election.

He thanked the government for the support and promised to rectify all the previous challenges that hampered the smooth running of the previous elections.
