Flavia Tumusiime is the new head of NTV, Spark TV and KFM

Flavia Tumusiime, who started as a presenter on the Teens Club show on WBS TV, has been appointed Head of Broadcast at Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda.

Impeccable sources told Bbeg Media that Tumusiime was appointed by the board last month, beating several senior and seasoned managers who had applied for the position.

She replaces Johnson Omollo, who left the station this year.

Nation Media Group, sources said, scrapped the position of General Manager in preference for Head of Broadcast.

At 36, Tumusiime is the youngest person to hold such a senior post in Uganda’s media industry in the recent past. She will walk in the footsteps of Agnes Konde, who held the position between 2013 and 2017.

Tumusiime will oversee the operations of NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, as well as KFM, which combined have more than 100 employees.

Her appointment, according to sources, shocked many people at Nation Media, given that many see her as inexperienced for such a senior managerial role.

Yet many conceded that she was hardworking and enterprising. She worked at NTV Uganda as a news anchor having joined from Capital FM. She had retreated to her private business ventures.

She is married to Andrew Kabuura, the head of sports broadcast at the rival Next Media.
