Uganda Law Society reminds Museveni to fulfil Shs 5 billion pledge

The Uganda Law Society (ULS) has reminded President Museveni to fulfill his Shs 5 billion pledge to build their society’s building project.

The ULS vice president, Asiimwe Anthony, revealed this during a mass to mourn Pope Francis, who passed away on Easter Monday.

“We would like to remind the government of the pledge the president made towards the construction of our project. We have never received it, that is why we decided to start this project from our small contributions,” Asiimwe said.

Jessica Alupo, the Vice President, promised to deliver the message to the president. She appealed to the lawyers to help the government support its various law reform programmes.

ULS members described Pope Francis as a loving, charismatic reformer who cared for the poor and the marginalised.

They said the pope will be remembered for fighting against corruption and greed.

Jet Mwebaze, a lawyer, said one who steals money meant for hospitals is worse than a mass murderer.

Buyaga West MP, Barnabas Tinkasimire, said despite being one of the powerful leaders globally, the pope lived a simple life.
