Girls outshine boys

The number of girls who attained two principal passes was 43,890( 71.2%), higher than the 48,383 representing 61.1% of the boys.
This shows that the percentage passes at the upper levels( 3P and 2P) are higher for females than for male candidates.
Dan Odongo, the executive director of Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) said females performed better than their male counterparts at the principal level pass( A- E) in all the humanity subjects , Physics and General Paper as has been the trend for many years.
He noted that female entries for the sciences and mathematics have remained lower than that of males as is the case with overall female entry
The results reveal that of the 48 candidates who sat in prisons, 93.8% of them were males. Of these, 25 candidates representing 52.1% obtained three principal pass levels.
“All qualified for the UACE certificate. Only one candidate did not sit for the examination,” Odongo said.
Cases of malpractice were low and atleast 38 centres had their results withheld.
