Justice Lydia Mugambe, 50, has been jailed for 6 years and 4 months by Oxford Crown Court today after being convicted of enslaving a young woman.
She will serve the sentence in the UK.
During her trial, prosecutors said Mugambe “took advantage of her status” over her victim by preventing her from holding down steady employment while forcing her to work as her maid and provide childcare for free.
In March, she was found guilty of conspiring to facilitate the commission of a breach of UK immigration law, facilitating travel with a view to exploitation, forcing someone to work, and conspiracy to intimidate a witness.
Her sentencing means that she will lose her PhD scholarship at the University of Oxford.
