Gomba West: Isaac Kayonde says he will defeat Rwakoojo this time

Isaac Kayonde, an independent financial advisor, has announced his candidacy to challenge the incumbent Gomba West MP, Robinah Gureme Rwakoojo, in the 2026 parliamentary elections.

Speaking to Bbeg Media, Kayonde expressed his determination to address critical issues in Gomba West, including youth unemployment, effective monitoring and evaluation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) to ensure benefits reach intended groups, and infrastructure development, particularly road maintenance and water irrigation systems to support livestock farmers in the cattle corridor.

“I have been nominated today to serve the people of Gomba West, who have been lacking effective service delivery as if our area is scarce of competent leaders like me. I request your support to represent you in the next parliament,” he said.

Having lost to Rwakoojo in 2021, Kayonde claimed he now understands the right strategies and messaging to defeat his rival, whom he accuses of failing to secure resources for the constituency.

On healthcare, he pointed out that Gomba District has only 17 health units, insufficient for the population’s needs, with malaria being the primary health challenge. He emphasized the need to increase immunization coverage, currently at 95%, to better address health demands.

Kayonde said his campaign will focuse on improving service delivery, enhancing agricultural productivity, and addressing systemic issues to uplift the socio-economic status of Gomba West residents.
