Emmanuel Dombo, the director of communication at the NRM, has said the National Unity Platform (NUP) made empty promises to Buganda during the 2021 elections.
Speaking to Bbeg Media, Dombo said the people of Buganda have now seen the weaknesses and loopholes within the Robert Kyagulanyi-led party ahead of the 2026 election.
“We can’t be sidelined and be uprooted by the Kyagulanyi party in Buganda because we supported their [Buganda] key issues from the beginning up to now. NUP will find itself uprooted instead,” Dombo said.
Dombo revealed that they still have a lot to do regarding the issues affecting the kingdom, so they still need more time to work on them.
He boosted that the restoration of monarchies in 1993 was spearheaded by President Museveni, even when some people were opposed to the move.
Dombo said that they expect victory in Buganda this time because many people have realized that NUP has no plan for the region.
He called upon NRM supporters to prepare for the upcoming elections to uproot the opposition.
He appealed to supporters not to vote for independent candidates since they cannot be held to account by any entity for their actions.
“NRM mobilisers who have genuine demands should look for the appointing authority to handle their grievances,” he said.
