David Balondemu is a man on a mission. Having gone through several trials and tribulations, the seasoned lawyer appears to have emerged stronger.
Now he has started laying the ground to unseat Luke Kyobe in Luuka North in the 2026 general election.
He told Bbeg Media that the people of Luuka North deserve better leadership and services, which Kyobe has failed to provide. He said he will contest on the NRM ticket.
“For the past 30 years, people of Luuka have never seen any tarmac road, meaning they have been left behind in terms of development. If I am elected a member of parliament, I will tell the president not to give us any ministerial position, but instead build us hospitals, roads, and schools for better services,” Balondemu said.
Balondemu is optimistic that NRM can shine more in Luuka if new and energetic people are trusted with power in 2026.
Having practiced international law and won several landmark cases, he says he will give people in Luuka free legal services that will help them overcome several challenges.
“As part of giving back to the local community, I have constructed over 100 bore holes in Luuka North, and a medical facility is under construction to improve people’s access to good health services.
Balondemu said he would make sure that his people get involved in the growing of more sugarcane, coffee, and other cash crops to boost their income.
For the past 20 years, the Busoga sub-region has had several powerful dignitaries from the government, such as Rebecca Kadaga, Kirunda Kivejinja, Kasule Lumumba, and Rukia Nakadama, but it remains woefully underdeveloped.
