China Mart Supermarket has donated essential supplies worth millions of shillings to Sanyu Babies’ Home as part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, dubbed the Give a Smile campaign.
The donation was handed over on May 29, 2026, at Sanyu Babies’ Home in Kampala. China Mart Supermarket operates on Level Two of Oasis Mall.
The donated items were selected to support the welfare, health and development of children at the home.
They included sanitation and hygiene supplies such as laundry and bathroom items to help maintain proper hygiene standards.
The supermarket also donated learning materials and school supplies to support early childhood education and assist caregivers and teachers in their daily work.
In addition, a variety of toys were provided to promote the cognitive, emotional and social development of infants at the facility.
According to China Mart, the visit was aimed at building a partnership with Sanyu Babies’ Home and supporting efforts to provide a clean, safe and healthy environment for vulnerable children.
Arnold Katongole, the public relations manager of China Mart Supermarket said the outreach programme reflects the company’s commitment to giving back to communities.
“Our Give a Smile campaign is anchored on a commitment to extending a smile to different communities and driving sustainable change, especially for those facing difficult living conditions,” Katongole said.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the institution, Jesca Namulinde , an administrator, social worker and supervisor of caregivers, nurses and teachers at Sanyu Babies’ Home, thanked China Mart for the support.
“We thank China Mart Supermarket for choosing us and giving us a smile,” Namulinde said.
“These are items that are very important in the daily lives of our children, and we will put them to good use.”
She added that the home depends largely on support from well-wishers and development partners.
“We are always grateful to individuals and organisations that think about us and support our work. This home survives on the kindness of people who visit and contribute towards the welfare of the children,” she said.
China Mart said the Give a Smile campaign has already benefited learners in several schools across the region.
The company added that plans are underway to expand the initiative to more public schools, care centres and underprivileged communities across Uganda as part of its commitment to creating lasting social impact.
