Only 234 out of 2128 students who sat this year’s pre-entry exams for the law degree at Makerere University scored 50% and above, meaning they hit the pass mark.
This means that nearly 90% of the students who sat for the papers failed and will have to try elsewhere.
King’s College Budo had 13 students score 50% and above, according to the results seen by Bbeg Media, making it the best-performing school. The results do not list the names of the students. They indicate their schools and their marks.
However, the overall best student, who scored 72%, is from Mbarara High School. Other schools whose students put in a good performance were Gayanza High School, Nabisunsa Girls School, Seeta High School, Gombe Secondary School, Mengo SS, St Mary’s Kitende, and others. Kalinabiri Secondary School also had one student score 52%.
A student from Namirembe Hillside High School was the worst performer with 13. 83 students who registered for the pre-entry exams did not turn up.
However, all the 234 are unlikely to get government sponsorship if last year’s selections are anything to go by. Last year, the government sponsored only 34 students for the Law degree at Makerere.
