Museveni clears Team Thorough to join his 2026 mobilisation campaign

President Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, has cleared Team Thorough to join his 2026 mobilisation campaign as part of efforts to secure victory in the forthcoming elections.

Arthur Nuwagaba, the head of mobilisation in charge of Local Content at State House, made the announcement during a review meeting for Team Thorough coordinators held at Bat Valley in Kampala.

“I have come here to assure them of the president’s recognition of their work and to listen to their challenges so that we can report back to him and officially clear them for the 2026 mobilisation campaigns,” Nuwagaba said.

He revealed that he had worked hard to coordinate a meeting between President Museveni and various pressure groups, during which the president recognised their efforts in advancing his mobilisation agenda ahead of the 2026 elections.

Nuwagaba urged Team Thorough members to engage in sustainable mobilisation and participate in government development programmes such as the Parish Development Model, Skilling Uganda, and Operation Wealth Creation.

He added that Team Thorough, together with over 200 other pressure groups operating under a joint umbrella, had been working for Museveni’s mobilisation team but had not been formally recognised until now.

“These groups will now be coordinated under the Office of the President, which will provide the necessary tools and facilitation such as campaign posters, T-shirts, fuel and vehicles to help them mobilise effectively for President Museveni,” Nuwagaba explained.

He also revealed that the president had agreed to support their SACCOs so that members remain productive even after the 2026 campaigns through income-generating projects.

John Mugisha, the national chairman and coordinator of Team Thorough, challenged the president to honour his promises, noting that for the past nine years, the group had been mobilising for Museveni without any facilitation.

He urged the NRM Secretariat to remain relevant and protect the gains of the Movement rather than “just dancing on podiums at presidential rallies.” He encouraged members to adhere to the NRM’s core principles of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy.

District coordinators from various regions including; Teso, Mbale, Hoima, Lamwo, Kampala, Masindi, Soroti, Kiruhura, Pallisa, Iganga, Napak, Lwengo, Wakiso, Zombo, Ibanda, Kanungu, Mbarara, Karamoja, Arua, and Kazo, expressed concern over rising youth unemployment, poor service delivery as well as disunity among NRM mobilisers.
