Team Thorough YKM, a political pressure group allied to the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has issued a two-week ultimatum to have their issues sorted out or else they will go ahead to petition party chairman, President Museveni.
The national coordinator of the pressure group, John Mugisha, told Bbeg Media at their offices in Kampala they had decided to postpone their planned peaceful demonstration after being promised that they will meet Museveni.
“We have decided to postpone our planned peaceful demonstration to walk to Kololo and deliver our petition after authorities promised to work on our issues. However, failure to do so, we shall announce another plan of action,” Mugisha said.
However, some of the group’s supporters and members who had travelled from Bundibugyo, Jinja, Ibanda, Buvuma Islands, Masaka, Bunyoro, and Iganga were disappointed about the postponement.
Mugisha said they have done a lot for the ruling party and need to be recognized and considered as staunch party mobilisers.
The group, that partners with over 20 similar pressure groups under the NRM, said they are tired of mafias who want to benefit from their sweat and struggle for the party.
Mugisha said they want to resume their mobilization drive, and their focus will be for the NRM to win back Buganda and other places where the party has performed poorly in previous elections.
They said NRM had the power and capacity to canvass support in all municipalities and cities countrywide, but this could only be possible if their efforts are recognized by allowing them to meet the president.
