Justice Suzan Odongo of the High Court has set September 24, 2025, as the date for hearing a case involving trademark infringement filed by the NRM Thorough Business Cooperative SACCO.
The decision follows the withdrawal of Kawanga and Kasule Advocates, the lawyers representing the accused parties, and the failure of other defendants to appear in court.
John Mugisha Mushaijomwe, chairman of the NRM Thorough Business SACCO, told Bbeg Media after a court session they were confident justice will be served.
Mugisha, a prominent NRM mobilizer, emphasized that their SACCO is the only legitimate entity operating under the name NRM Thorough Business Cooperative. He accused individuals, including Pastor Robert Mbabazi, Narris Nuwagaba, Matia Lubega, and Martin Tumwebaze, of falsely using the SACCO’s name for their own benefit.
Mugisha urged President Museveni to disregard any demands from these individuals, describing them as self-seekers.
Represented by Matrix Advocates, the NRM Thorough Business Cooperative SACCO alleges that the defendants’ unauthorized use of their name has caused significant financial losses, depriving the SACCO of funds meant for member development and capacity building.
Lawyers from Matrix Advocates said the accused repeatedly failed to appear in court, strengthening the SACCO’s case.
During a recent session, individuals claiming to represent the defendants appeared but demonstrated ignorance of the matter, prompting Justice Odongo to instruct the court clerk not to record their presence or defense.
The NRM Thorough Business Cooperative SACCO, with members across Uganda, has been seeking justice in this matter for over three years.
