The Electoral Commission (EC) has designated today (June 26, 2025) and tomorrow as the nomination dates for candidates aspiring to serve on parish committees for youth, older persons, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) under the Special Interest Group (SIG) elections.
According to EC Spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi, nomination forms are available at sub-county, town council, and division headquarters. Candidates must complete and submit these forms between Thursday and Friday.
Mucunguzi clarified that only individuals elected to village-level committees for Youth, Older Persons, or PWDs are eligible to be nominated as candidates for the parish-level committees.
“The village committee for youth, for instance, forms the electorate that will choose the parish-level committee. The same process applies to the committees for Persons with Disabilities and Older Persons,” Mucunguzi explained.
The EC conducted polling for Village Older Persons Committees on June 16, 2025, Village PWD Committees on June 17, 2025, and Village Youth Committees on June 19, 2025.
