- Gen Moses Ali mourns Pope Francis
The Second Deputy Prime Minister, Gen Moses Ali, has sent his condolences to the Catholic Church for the death of Pope Francis.
Pope Francis died on Easter Monday after he had been ill for several weeks.
Other notable le Ugandans who have condoled with the Vatican are: President Museveni, Speaker Anita Among and Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja have met the pope and extended their condolences to the Vatican.
Gen Ali told journalists that he fondly remembers the moment in 2015 when he met Pope Francis at the Vatican. He was invited by Fr. Charles Obilejo on behalf of Pope Francis.
The reason for Ali’s invitation to the Vatican was to introduce his water project of drawing water from the River Nile to serve the Madi sub-region, to the pope.
“I was so surprised for the Catholic man of God to bless me, a Muslim,” Ali said.
