The Electoral Commission (EC) has rolled out the schedule for the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Committees’ elections, a key step toward the 2025/2026 General Elections. \
The elections, spanning from the Parish to the National level, aim to amplify the voices of older persons, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and youth, ensuring their vital role in shaping Uganda’s future.
The commission called upon citizens, civil society, and leaders to actively participate and support this democratic process.
Stakeholders were urged to adhere to the outlined timelines and follow the provided guidelines. Whether they are voting, leading, or running for office, EC said their engagement is crucial to the success of these elections.
Nomination of Village SIGs Committees Candidates: Older Persons (OP); Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Youth will take place between June 2 and June 1o. Polling for Village Older Persons Committees will take place on June 16.

Aspiring candidates can access nomination forms on the EC website at https://www.ec.or.ug/nomination-forms. Eligible SIG members are encouraged to download and submit these forms promptly.
EC said this is a chance to drive meaningful change.
