Stanbic Bank Uganda has been named Uganda’s Best Investment Bank at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, strengthening its reputation as one of the country’s leading financial institutions.
The award was announced by the London-based financial publication Euromoney on July 17, recognising the bank’s role in financing some of Uganda’s largest economic and infrastructure projects.
The recognition comes as Stanbic Bank Uganda, the flagship subsidiary of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL), marks 35 years of operations in the country.
Speaking about the award, Stanbic Bank Uganda Chief Executive, Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa, said the bank’s Corporate and Investment Banking division plays a central role in delivering its purpose of driving Uganda’s economic growth.
“For us, Corporate and Investment Banking is where our purpose, ‘Uganda is our home; we drive her growth,’ comes alive. It is the engine through which we empower local businesses to expand, create jobs and contribute significantly to the country’s revenue,” Kalifungwa said.
“It is also where we work closely with the Government of Uganda to deliver the strategic national projects that shape the country’s future. We are proud of the impact we have made, and 2025 was a particularly strong year. We are delighted that Euromoney has recognised those achievements.”
Kalifungwa said the award is especially significant because it comes during the bank’s 35th anniversary celebrations.
“As we celebrate 35 years of service, this international recognition from Euromoney could not have come at a better time. It validates our journey from our beginnings to becoming one of the pillars of Uganda’s financial system. It also confirms that our strategy of promoting shared growth remains as relevant today as it has been for more than three decades,” he said.
According to the bank, the award recognises its ability to structure complex financial transactions, including financing major infrastructure projects and supporting key industrial sectors that are driving Uganda’s economic development.
Stanbic Bank Uganda Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Paul Muganwa, attributed the achievement to the commitment and expertise of the bank’s investment banking team.
“This award reflects the talent, resilience and technical expertise of our Corporate and Investment Banking team. Every day they help clients solve complex financial challenges and turn them into long-term opportunities for growth,” Muganwa said.
“We do more than facilitate transactions. We build lasting partnerships that enable businesses to grow sustainably. I am proud of the way our team continues to develop innovative and tailored ‘Keep Growing’ solutions that help our clients achieve their ambitions. This recognition reflects the high standards we set for ourselves.”
The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are regarded as some of the most respected awards in the global banking industry. The awards recognise financial institutions that demonstrate outstanding performance, innovation and leadership across different markets.
For Stanbic Bank Uganda, the latest recognition reinforces its position as one of the country’s leading corporate and investment banks and a key partner in financing Uganda’s long-term economic development
