Pastor Kayanja hails Museveni’s leadership, urges Ugandans to protect national gains

Political, business and religious leaders in Ntungamo district have commended President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni for what they described as wise leadership that has guided Uganda’s transformation.

Speaking at a corporate breakfast conference for the leaders held at Ankole Resort and Spa, Pastor Kayanja of Lubaga Miracle Centre, the main speaker at the event, commended President Museveni, describing him as one of the wisest presidents in Africa.

He said Uganda is blessed to have had Museveni’s leadership for close to four decades.

“Although there have been a few skirmishes, Uganda has largely remained peaceful and democratic during the 40 years of President Museveni’s leadership,” Kayanja said.

However, he noted that while peace and security are non-negotiable, there is need for a new national conversation to help Uganda and Africa move to the next level of development. He said Ugandans should not leave everything to the President but instead work collectively to transform the country.

Kayanja cited regional trade challenges, including past border closures with Kenya and Rwanda, saying they demonstrated the importance of East African integration for Uganda’s future. He warned that Africa risks being re-colonised through unfair trade practices if leaders fail to negotiate effectively on the global stage.

“In business, you don’t get what you deserve; you get what you negotiate for,” he said, referring to new United States visa regulations that require applicants to deposit large sums of money as bond.

Turning to the upcoming elections scheduled for January 15, Kayanja called for tolerance and respect among political rivals. He urged supporters and opponents alike to reject violence and persecution based on differing political views.

He also commended First Lady Janet Museveni, describing her as a true mother of the nation. Kayanja encouraged Ugandans to vote wisely, saying leadership requires integrity, example and the ability to manage society effectively.

“We need to focus on enterprises that can transform families and the country. People can invest in coffee farming, dairy, poultry and many other viable enterprises,” Kayanja said.

The district RDC, Miriam Kagaiga, said Museveni is a visionary leader committed to ensuring that Ugandans work hard and lift themselves out of poverty.

“His Excellency and the First Lady were brought by God, and we are proud of them because we are enjoying their dream and vision to liberate this country,” Kagaiga said.

Maj Gen John Mateeka, who is also a businessman, praised Pastor Robert Kayanja for preaching a message of peace and transformation. He said Kayanja’s teachings align with President Museveni’s emphasis on wealth creation and prosperity for all Ugandans.

“Now that we have achieved a lot under President Museveni’s steady stewardship, we have a duty to protect these gains,” Mateeka said.

Seth Rukurungu, the private secretary to the First Lady in Ntungamo, paid tribute to Pastor Kayanja and his wife, Pastor Jessica Kayanja, for maintaining close collaboration with the First Lady’s office and for sustaining evangelism that he said has healed many Ugandans and reached audiences beyond the country.
