Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL) has won a Gold accolade in the Titans category at the 2026 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards. The honour recognises its sustained excellence in financial reporting.

The awards are organised by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and its partners. They promote good financial reporting, corporate governance and sustainability disclosure.

David Timothy Ediomu, the ICPAU president, said the awards were first held in 2011. He said they have reached nearly 1,000 organisations through guidance on applying international financial reporting standards, along with feedback meant to improve the quality of annual reports.

Stanbic has been one of the most consistent performers. It has won eight Gold accolades across different categories.

ICPAU says organisations named Titans belong to an exclusive group of institutions that have shown sustained excellence and set a benchmark for others.

Mark Ocitti Ongom, the chief executive of SUHL, said good reporting matters more for a listed company because it builds trust among stakeholders.

“For a listed company, the quality and transparency of our reporting are fundamental to building stakeholder trust and confidence in the business,” he said.

He added that the award confirmed the work of the bank’s teams and the standards the company continues to set for the industry.

“We remain committed to reporting with the transparency, accountability and discipline our stakeholders expect,” he said.

Ronald Makata, the chief finance and value management officer at SUHL, leads the financial reporting team. He said credible reporting was central to keeping the confidence of shareholders, regulators and investors.

“Financial reporting is ultimately about trust,” Makata said. “Our stakeholders must have confidence in the quality, integrity and transparency of the information we provide.”

He said the award reflected the discipline and technical skill of his team and its commitment to raising the standard.

George William Nyombi Thembo, the executive director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), said technology was playing a growing role in strengthening sustainability reporting.

He urged organisations to prepare for the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards ahead of their mandatory introduction.

SUHL is the parent company of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited, SBG Securities Uganda Limited and Stanbic Business Incubator Limited.
