VIDEO: Justice Lydia Mugambe pleads not to be arrested

In newly released video footage, Justice Lydia Mugambe was seen pleading with a police officer who had come to arrest her over the suspicion of forcing a young woman to work for her.

The officer says: “So, unfortunately I am gonna now arrest you on suspicion of keeping someone in slavery and servitude under the Modern Slavery Act. You don’t have to say anything because it may harm your defence…”

“Officer,” Mugambe says pleadingly as her voice trails off.

Mugambe was on Thursday convicted by a UK court of “forcing a young woman to work as a slave”.

She faces life imprisonment. She will be sentenced on May 2.
