Medard Lubega Sseggona has said that it would be foolhardy for the National Unity Platform (NUP) to ditch him for any other candidate in Busiro East.
Lubega was speaking to journalists at Kavule after picking up nomination forms.
“Do you want to say that our party does not need quality people?” Look around, look at other people, look at me, look at my CV. Why do you have to deceive yourself that there is a mischievous possibility of the party choosing someone less qualified for this job than me?… This party has more class,” he said

Businessman, Emmanuel Matovu, also picked forms intending to stand in Busiro East. Sseggona insisted that he plans to replace Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine after he serves his two terms.
“Kyagulanyi has just started his first term after being elected last week. After he serves his second term, I will be there to replace him. According to our constitution, a president serves two terms,” he said
Sseggona is the longest-serving MP for Busiro East, having been elected in 2011. Previous MPs have served one term.
