Matia Bwanika tells youth not to fall for ‘politics of excitement’

Matia Lwanga Bwanika, an aspirant in Busiro South and Wakiso LCV chairman, has cautioned the youth against politics of excitement.

Lwanga made the plea during a sensitization tour of Katabi Town Council, where he met several youth.

Bwanika, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), said many young people want to join politics but few have leadership qualities.

“We need to diffentiante between politics and leadership. I always tell this to the youth the two are different and this is the greatest dilemma that we face. Politics is seasonal while leadership lasts forever,” Bwanika said.

Bwanika said the youth in NUP should put more energy in knowing how power plays out but this requires a special art of reading amd meditating

“I know powerful people in this country, very powerful but none of them holds any ministerial or office. That is politics,” Bwanika said.

Bwanika said he is dismayed by the lack of political space especially when it comes to new political parties. He urged his party NUP to use any available opportunity to reach out to the masses.

“I find it unfortunate that few of us are interested in power but are rather interested in the little clout that comes with politics,” he said.
