Huda Olero, the MP for Aringa East in Yumbe District and State Minister for Defence in charge of Veterans Affairs, has declared she will not resign her cabinet position if she loses during the primaries.
The minister made this statement to Bbeg Media after picking up her nomination papers at the NRM offices to represent Aringa East again.
“Why would I resign my position in the cabinet? Government has to continue,” she remarked.
Other aspirants include: Chelangat Nancy Rose; Nyamate Muhigira Messiah; Persis Namuganza, Simeo Nsubuga, a former commissioner at the Electoral Commission.
The question remains: Have all these aspirants considered this constitutional requirement before expressing their interest in running for office?
