Busiro East MP Emmanuel Magoola has pledged to lobby for improved health service delivery in his constituency during his five-year term in Parliament.
Speaking to Bbeg Media outside his office at Kingdom Kampala, Magoola said residents of Busiro East continue to face challenges accessing quality healthcare because of congestion at health facilities and inadequate medical supplies.
Magoola, a NUP-leaning independent MP, said one of his top priorities is to push for the upgrade of Wakiso Health Centre IV into a referral hospital. He said the move would improve access to specialised healthcare services for residents.
“Our people need better health services closer to where they live. Upgrading Wakiso Health Centre IV will help reduce congestion and improve access to quality care,” Magoola said.
Beyond healthcare, Magoola said poverty remains the biggest concern raised by residents across the constituency.
He noted that many families are struggling to take their children back to school, invest in agriculture, participate in income-generating activities, and access clean water and electricity.
According to Magoola, addressing poverty will require greater government support and increased investment in local economic activities.
The MP also promised to use his experience as a businessman and legislator to attract investment to Busiro East. He argued that the constituency has lagged because of inadequate lobbying and limited efforts to attract development opportunities.
Commenting on the national budget presented by Finance Minister Henry Musasizi, Magoola urged the government to prioritise service delivery in the next financial year.
He said increased investment in healthcare, education, water, electricity and other essential services would directly benefit ordinary Ugandans.
Busiro East was previously represented by lawyer Medard Lubega Sseggona, also of the National Unity Platform (NUP). But ahead of the 2026 elections, Sseggona was denied the party ticket in preference for Mathias Walukagga, who was also disqualified from the race, paving the way for Magoola.
