Richard Olwenyi, a senior reporter with Next Media, has fulfilled one of his lifetime dreams after Makerere University awarded him a Master of Arts in Journalism and Communication.
Olwenyi started his masters degree journey more than five years ago but it was interupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking to Bbeg Media, Olwenyi said pursuing a master’s degree was driven by his desire to strengthen his professional skills as a practising journalist.
“As a journalist, I felt the need to study at a higher level to deepen my understanding of communication and help address gaps in Uganda’s media landscape and newsroom challenges,” he said.
The graduation ceremony brought together hundreds of graduands, family members, and academics.
