Sarah Opendi, the Woman MP for Tororo, has publicly criticized Dr. Tanga Odoi, the chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, for alleged bias and lack of transparency in managing the party’s primary elections in Tororo.
Opendi claims that despite winning NRM primaries since 2011, she has never been declared a winner under Odoi’s leadership, with her opponents being favored instead.
She expressed frustration over what she perceives as consistent unfair treatment and has appealed to the NRM party chairperson, President Museveni, to appoint independent election officials to ensure neutrality in the upcoming primaries.
Opendi emphasized that her critique is not personal but stems from her desire for fair electoral processes, asserting her determination to participate in this year’s primaries despite claims she might avoid them. She also highlighted her commitment to addressing unresolved issues for the people of Tororo.
In response, Dr. Tanga Odoi dismissed Opendi’s allegations, stating he is accustomed to her behavior and has no time for her accusations, condemning her approach.
