ICT minister Ssebugwawo leads fundraising drive for Ndiga clan cultural site

The minister of state for ICT, Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, has led a fundraising drive to build a multi million shilling museum project for her Ndiga (sheep) clan.

Ssebugwawo said the cultural site, which will cost Shs 650 million, is one of the projects the Ndiga clan is working on to promote tourism within Buganda.

“We want to call upon subjects of the Ndiga clan to support the construction of the Kibuuka Omumbale cultural site in Mpigi district,” she said.

She revealed that the remains of Kibuuka Omumbale were returned by the late Abu Mayanja in 1987 after having been taken to Britain by the British colonialists.

Tony Kaweesa, the head of development and mineral wealth in the Ndiga clan, said this site will attract tourists and bring in revenue to support the clan’s economic activities.

The head of the Ndiga Clan, Omutaka Lwasi Buuzabalyaawo, commended subjects for supporting clan projects, conserving cultural heritage, and promoting tourism within the kingdom.

He called upon all clan subjects to support the fundraising dinner scheduled for July 18 at Hotel Africana.
