Entebbe International Airport handled 169,706 international passengers in August 2026, according to the latest traffic figures from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).

This included 88,270 arrivals and 81,436 departures, working out to an average of about 5,474 travellers a day.

UCAA said in a statement that the figure marks a rise from July 2026, when the airport recorded 156,342 international passengers. That is an increase of 13,364 passengers month-on-month.

Yet despite the improvement, traffic remains below where it stood a year ago. In August 2025, the airport processed 239,329 international passengers, meaning this year’s total is down by 69,623 passengers, a steep year-on-year decline. Analysts say that recent travel restrictions on Ugandans appear to have dented what would ordinarily be a busier period.

July and August typically mark the peak travel season, driven by holidays and tourism.

In terms of cargo, the airport handled 4,693 metric tonnes of cargo in August, made up of 2,927 tonnes of exports and 1,766 tonnes of imports.
