The life of Cedric Babu, son of veteran politician Capt Francis Babu, is hanging by a thread due to a severe heart condition.
One of his friends, Simon Kaheru, posted on X that Cedric needed urgent financial support to carry out a heart transplant in the UK. He needs ÂŁ300,000 or Shs 1.4 billion.
Kaheru said Cedric is currently in the ICU at Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi, where he was airlifted to after he collapsed in Kigali, Rwanda, early this month. Cedric is a former local tennis champion and was president of the Uganda Tennis Association (UTA).
In 2021, he contested the Kampala Central parliamentary seat on the NRM ticket and lost to Muhammad Nsereko. He is a key promoter of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), whose patron is Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
A GoFundMe page has been created to source for the money and so far, only ÂŁ 15,184 (Shs 74 million) has been raised.
Here is the message!
Dear friends,
We’re writing this with urgency and hope in our hearts. Cedric — our father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and bright light — is currently in the ICU, courageously fighting for his life after being diagnosed with severe heart failure.
His condition has deteriorated rapidly, and doctors have confirmed that his only chance of survival now lies in a heart transplant.
This life-saving procedure can only be done abroad, and Cedric must be medically evacuated to London immediately to begin the process.
We are launching this fundraiser to raise ÂŁ300,000.
This is more than a medical emergency — it’s a fight for Cedric’s future. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to giving him the second chance he desperately needs.
If you are unable to contribute financially, you can still make an enormous impact by sharing this page with your networks.
Let’s come together for Cedric. Let’s help him live.
