Former Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko has claimed that former Speaker Anita Annet Among is in poor health and urgently requires medical attention.
Speaking on his social media platforms, Nsereko alleged that Among is suffering from a serious medical condition, which he said has left her unable to walk. “
“Rt Hon Anita Annet Among is very sick. She has a blood clot in her legs; she cannot walk. It is terrible; what I have seen,” Nsereko said.
“The legs are all swollen. She cannot walk. Why not let her go to hospital? I don’t know how long she can live without treatment.”
Nsereko said he had visited Among at her Nakasero residence where she remains under house arrest.
The two have maintained a close political relationship during the 11th Parliament, where Among, as speaker, was among those who at times supported Nsereko on certain legislative positions, including debates around the Computer Misuse Act.
In the 10th Parliament, Among nominated Nsereko for the position of deputy speaker.
Among has not been seen in public for two months and is yet to appear for a sitting in the 12th Parliament. She is under investigation for corruption and mismanagement of public resources, and her movements have been restricted.
