The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) spent more than Shs 800 million on the 2025 Kampala City Festival, its executive director Sharifah Buzeki has said.

The 2025 festival was held at Kololo Independence Grounds and aimed to bring together business communities, city residents and corporate organisations to interact with customers and showcase their products and services.

Speaking at a dinner organised to thank sponsors, Buzeki said the return of the festival followed several years of disruption caused by challenges such as disorder in the city and the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said the 2025 edition attracted hundreds of Ugandans, marking a successful comeback for one of Kampala’s flagship public events.

Buzeki noted that the festival was supported by the Ministry of Tourism and other partners, helping KCCA mobilise over Shs 800 million in cash and in-kind contributions.[WATCH VIDEO]

She described the festival as a collective effort to build a resilient and sustainable city where residents and businesses can thrive in a peaceful environment.

“Innovation must go hand in hand with preparedness. The strength of the festival lies in the ideas of the people and those with a vision for a vibrant Kampala,” she said.

Several companies, including Bbeg Media Limited, were recognised for their contribution to the organisation of the 2025 festival.

KCCA also used the dinner to launch the 2026 Kampala City Festival, which will be held on the various streets of the city.

Planned locations include Kampala Road, Buganda Road and the City Square Kampala, as well as surrounding areas.

The shift from a single venue to multiple streets is expected to expand participation and bring the festival closer to the public.
