Kabaka’s subjects urged to embrace Tubeere Balamu health camp

Edward Ndagala, the chief executive officer of the Kabaka Foundation, urged people in Buganda to turn up in large numbers for the health camp

Kabaka’s subjects are set to undergo surgeries during this year’s Tubeere Balamu health camp, in a major expansion of the kingdom’s community health outreach programme.

Edward Ndagala, the chief executive officer of the Kabaka Foundation, urged people in Buganda to turn up in large numbers, saying the camp has moved beyond screening to include surgical procedures.

Speaking to Bbeg Media, Ndagala said final preparations were underway for the two-day camp scheduled for February 24 and 25 at Kasana grounds in Luwero district, Bulemeezi county.

“I want to inform the Kabaka’s subjects to attend this health camp because we have shifted from screening to surgeries. I call upon you to attend in big numbers,” Ndagala said.

He said the camp will offer a wide range of services, including cancer screening and related minor surgeries, eye check-ups and treatment, dental care, HIV testing, and general medical consultations. He also appealed to young people to support the initiative through voluntary blood donation.

Ndagala asked chiefs across the kingdom to mobilise people to participate, saying the initiative is aimed at improving the health and well-being of people in Buganda and Uganda at large.

The two-day event, which runs from Tuesday to Wednesday, is expected to provide free medical services and health education to hundreds of residents in Bulemeezi county and neighbouring areas.

Ndagala commended Diamond Trust Bank, the Buganda Ministry of health and the Kabaka Foundation partners for supporting what he described as a transformative intervention for communities that struggle to access specialised care.

The Kabaka Foundation has so far organised Tubeere Balamu health camps in five counties within the kingdom, including Kyadondo, Busiro, Ssingo, and Buddu.
