When Idah Nantaba was appointed minister of state for Lands in 2012, some MPs led by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga declined to approve her appointment, saying she ‘was not fit to be a minister. However, in one of the meetings at State House Entebbe attended by the then Secretary General Kasule Lumumba and other female MPs, Museveni asked them why they had taken so long to approve Nantaba.
The room fell silent. However, one cantankerous female MP got courage and asked Museveni: “Is it true you love Nantaba?”
Museveni laughed and said he had heard those rumours, but they were not true.
