CBS finally lets Meddie Nsereko go

After months of speculation, Meddie Nsereko will not be returning to CBS FM, three highly placed sources have told Bbeg Media.

Meddie Nsereko has been off air for more than two months.

We reported last month that he had applied for sick leave because his eyes had a defect that he wanted to treat in the UK.

However, it is now clear that his leave will be extended indefinitely.  Sources at the station told us that management has communicated to him this month that they will not be needing him.

“It was after a mutual understanding between both sides because we did not want this issue to get out of hand. People have said many things,” sources said.

Nsereko has been the host of Kiriza Oba Gana, a political talk show on 89.2, Palamenti Yaffe on Saturdays on 88.9. and the Alive and Kicking Show on Sunday morning. The Sunday show, we have been told, has since been renamed “Mukikadde”.

Last year, he started his podcast, “The Meddie Nsereko Show”, where he has hosted several prominent people in the political and social spheres.

Nsereko, said to be in his 60s, joined CBS in 1996 but stayed in the shadows of Mulindwa Muwonge until 2001, when Mulindwa left, and he took charge of the talk shows.

In 2014, he told Daily Monitor in an interview that working at CBS had opened enormous opportunities for him.

“I have got a lot of mileage from this and respect. My job has also opened doors for me, but all this is possible because I love journalism and I have done it diligently…,” he said.

Efforts to talk to Nsereko and CBS management were futile.
