Kawempe South: NRM’s Madina Nsereko, Dr Roy Ssemboga nominated

NRM’s Madina Nsereko was today nominated for the Kawempe South MP seat at the Electoral Commission offices in Ntinda as nominations for parliamentary candidates entered the second day.

Nsereko will face off with National Unity Platform’s Fred Nyanzi, who was nominated yesterday. Also nominated for the same seat was Dr Roy Ssemboga, a former guild president of Makerere University.

After nomination, Nsereko pledged to improve service delivery in Kawempe South.

“If I am elected as an MP for Kawempe South, I will advocate for a budget increase for the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) so that challenges such as poor roads, garbage collection, substandard schools, and inadequate hospitals, among others, are addressed,” she said.

Also nominated today were Musa Mbazira, for the Lubaga South MP, and Singh Katongole for Lubaga North. Both are flag bearers of the NRM.

All candidates vowed to bring positive change to their respective constituencies if elected to parliament.

Some candidates said they had decided to run as independents because they did not want to be hindered by party ideologies in their push to serve the people.
