Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga yesterday urged the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to tap into Buganda’s vast investment opportunities. Mayiga tabled the proposal in a meeting with Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, the chairman of the department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
According to a press release, the meeting explored various aspects of Buganda’s potential, particularly opportunities for generating revenue through investment. Al Mubarak pledged to establish a framework to foster collaboration between the UAE, the Buganda Kingdom, and Uganda as a whole.
Uganda’s Ambassador Zaake Wannume Kibedi, also attended the meeting and highlighted that the UAE is a leading destination for Uganda’s exports, with agricultural products being the most prominent.
The Katikkiro was accompanied by Buganda Kingdom ministers,Joseph Kawuki, Hamis Kakomo, and Robert Sserwanga. Mayiga is in the UAE to attend the Buganda Bumu Arab-Asia Convention.
