Mengo Court Magistrate Adams Byarugaba has ordered the six-month imprisonment of Prossy Namugga, the mother of suspect Moses Tumwiine, also known as Semanobe, after she failed to produce her son in court.
Namugga, who stood as a surety for Tumwiine, was arrested a few weeks ago when he failed to appear for multiple court sessions, missing at least four scheduled hearings.
Tumwiine is the sixth accused in a case involving Pastor Robert Kayanja, where nine individuals face charges of trespassing at Kayanja’s Miracle Centre Church in Lubaga in September 2021.
He is also accused of conspiring to provide false information to the police and conspiring to commit a felony.
Before her committal to Luzira Prison, Namugga informed the magistrate that she had not seen her son for several months. Magistrate Byarugaba stated that her only alternative to imprisonment was to pay a fine of Shs 20 million, which she was unable to do.
The case has been adjourned to September 18, 2025, pending further proceedings.
