As the #UgandaParliamentExhibition enters into the home stretch, sparks are starting to fly.
Earlier today one of the organizers of the exhibition Dr Spire Ssentongo exchanged bitterly with NBS TV journalist Sam Ibanda Mugabi, who heads the Uganda Parliamentary Press Association (UPPA) which has been accused of cozying up with Parliament and failing to ask tough questions with the leaders.
Ibanda first threw the spanner in the works when he wrote that “a whole PhD holder was driving an agenda of hate”, an overt reference to Ssentongo, who holds a PhD in Philosophy.
Ssentongo shot back: “Indeed a guilty conscience needs no accuser!”
Ibanda countered that he was not against Ssentongo and group demanding for accountability, only that some allegations had been levelled against journalists who cover Parliament.
Ssentongo wondered why Ibanda felt attacked if indeed he was innocent. He accused him of playing the victim card.
This exchange illustrates the flaring tempers between the exhibitors and those intent on defending Parliament.
