PDM: Government to inject over Shs 300 million in Kasangati

Juma Kigongo, the deputy RDC for Kasangati, has announced plans to monitor the progress of the government’s Parish Development Model (PDM) initiative.

Speaking to Bbeg Media at his office in Kasangati, Kigongo said they will be traversing traversing the nine parishes within Kasangati and Kyadondo East to assess the progress of PDM beneficiaries since 2020.

“This will help us identify challenges and provide appropriate solutions,” he said.

He explained that the monitoring team will visit both old and new beneficiaries from the financial year 2022/2023 to date.

Kigongo noted that over 3,000 people have benefited from the initiative, with each individual now receiving Shs 1 million. In the programme’s earlier years, the amount was shared between two people, but it was later allocated to one beneficiary.

He further revealed that following the monitoring exercise, an additional Shs 300 million will be disbursed to support both old and new beneficiaries.

PDM is one of the government’s flagship development initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty. Kigongo disclosed that the programme targets individuals engaged in the agricultural sector, agro-business, and poultry, including farmers, tomato traders, poultry farmers, matooke sellers, and others.
