The executive director National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) Rosemary Kisembo, has confirmed that renewal of national IDs will commence June and will be conducted in 10,717 parishes.
She was addressing the media at the police headquarters in Naguru, Kisembo said they will recruit young people tom work as data entrants and assistant registrars during the exercise. Minimum qualification for the entrants will be A-level certificate.
“We shall conduct this exercise using the face, biometrics, and the iris to help in identifying inclusivity of the person,” she said.
She noted that all refugees are not going to be registered unless they present a certificate of naturalization.
Ugandans below the age of 16 are required to have a National Identification Number (NIN) while those above 16 are qualified to have a national ID.
Those in Diaspora will register online. However they will be required to capture the biometrics.
