Next Media’s chief news manager Dalton Kaweesa has been shortlisted for the position of deputy director Public and Corporate Affairs at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
Kaweesa, who has worked in the media industry for more than 15 years, was position 35 on the shortlist according to a leaked list obtained by Bbeg Media.
He has previously worked at the Red Pepper, Uganda Radio Network before joining NBS TV in 2014 as deputy news manager, current affairs.
With the exception of Simon Muyanga Lutaaya, he is the longest serving news manager at the Naguru based organisation having replaced Joyce Bagala in late 2020.
New managers at Next Media rarely last two years.
Kaweesa, will however have to contend with other experienced journalists for the job. Some of these have served in senior communication roles in big organisations before.
They include: Okello Jabweli who served as spokesperson of Electoral Commission; Simon Kasyate who worked at EU and KCCA before, Gilbert Kadilo who served as manager Corporate Affairs at National Identification And Registration Authority (NIRA).
