Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The president’s desision was confirmed by Faruk Kirunda, the deputy presidential press secretary, in a post on his X handle.
Yesterday, we broke the story that Buzeki, the commissioner of Human Resource Management in the ministry of Public Service, had been recommended for the KCCA top job by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
She had emerged the best in a series of interviews conducted by the PSC.
Under section 17 of the KCCA Act, the president appoints the executive director of KCCA on the advice of the PSC.
The president also appointed Benon Kigenyi as Buzeki’s deputy. Kigenyi currently serves as Under Secretary in the ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
Buzeki and Kigenyi will replace Dorothy Kisaka and David Luyambazi respectively. Kisaka and Luyimbazi were sacked in September following the Kiteezi landfill saga which led to loss of lives.
“Their names have been forwarded to Public Service for formalisation. When the process is completed, the Head Public Service/Secretary to Cabinet will formally confirm the appointments,” Kirunda wrote in a post on X.
