The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called on Ugandans to embrace transparency and trust as key values in their pursuit of better livelihoods, saying these virtues are critical for long-term success.

Mayiga made the remarks while addressing mourners during a burial of his elder sister, Annet Namukasa, popularly known as Miisi, at Kasanje in Kabonera, Masaka district.

“I urge you to remain transparent because this will help you to be trusted by your friends, employers as well as family members. I am very sure that if you uphold transparency, you will excel in whatever you do,” Mayiga said.

He stressed that trust and efficiency were essential if Ugandans were to channel their energies into producing meaningful and lasting outcomes in society.

Mayiga urged people to focus on producing quality work for their families, friends and employers, noting that excellence attracts strong and lasting relationships.

“When you do quality work, people will always look for your services. Whether in legal practice, medical care, banking, advertising or any other sector, clients will always seek out the best,” he said.

He described Namukasa as a pillar who greatly shaped his personal growth, values and etiquette.

“She contributed a lot to who I am today. I thank God for her life and the role she played in shaping me,” Mayiga said.

Using her life as an example, he urged young people to take good care of their elders and appreciate their hard work and sacrifices while they are still alive and able.

Namukasa was a primary school teacher and a daughter of the late Sepiriya Mukasa of Kasanje, Kabonera in Masaka district. She died recently at Platinum Hospital in Nakasero, Kampala.

She is survived by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
